The Long Road to Nordkapp has always been about more than simply riding a motorcycle to the top of Europe. It is about the road, the people we meet, the memories we carry and, most importantly, the veterans and families who live every day with experiences that do not simply disappear when someone comes home.
Now that story has a soundtrack.
The original music created around The Long Road to Nordkapp is now available to buy directly through the website.
Each song tells a different part of the story. Some are about motorcycles, brotherhood and the freedom of the open road. Others explore the much deeper reasons behind this expedition, including the experiences of veterans, the people who stand beside them and the battles that can continue long after military service has ended.
Tracks such as The Long Road to Nordkapp and Pilgrims Ride capture the spirit of the journey and the bond between riders. Wherever You Roam tells the story of a biker’s guardian angel, always watching and keeping them safe on the road. That’s Why Veterans Ride explores why so many veterans find something important in motorcycles, the road and the company of other riders.
Other songs go somewhere much more personal.
Shattered Parts looks at the experience from the other side, focusing on the wives, husbands, partners and families who help rebuild the people they love when they return home carrying wounds that cannot always be seen. Leaving Ghosts Behind is about confronting the past and trying to move forward rather than allowing it to dictate the future.
These are not simply songs written to accompany a motorcycle expedition. Together, they are becoming part of the story of the expedition itself.
Music has an extraordinary ability to say things that ordinary conversation sometimes cannot. A three or four-minute song can capture fear, loyalty, loss, friendship, hope and determination in a way that pages of explanation sometimes struggle to achieve.
That is exactly what I wanted this collection to do.
The music also provides another way to support The Long Road to Nordkapp and the reason behind the journey. The expedition is being undertaken in support of Veterans in Action, helping raise awareness of the work they do with veterans and their families.
Buying a track means you are not simply adding another song to your collection. You are becoming a small part of the journey.
There will be more music released as the expedition develops, with each new song exploring another part of the road, the people behind it and the experiences that inspired the journey north.
