Expedition Update, October 2026

Preparations are gathering pace, new sponsors are coming on board, and the countdown to June 2027 continues.

With less than eight months until I set off from Plymouth Hoe on 12 June 2027, preparations for The Long Road to Nordkapp are progressing well. What started as an ambitious idea is gradually becoming a reality, thanks to the encouragement of supporters, the generosity of sponsors and the growing interest in the expedition.

Over 24 days, I’ll be riding my Kawasaki Versys 1000 GT more than 5,000 miles through eight countries, travelling north to Nordkapp in Norway before returning through Sweden and Denmark to the UK.

This is more than a motorcycle adventure. The expedition is being undertaken in support of Veterans in Action (VIA), helping raise awareness of the challenges faced by veterans and the importance of mental health, recovery and finding a sense of purpose after military service.

Sponsorship and Support Continue to Grow

One of the most encouraging developments over recent weeks has been the support received from businesses and organisations that believe in what this expedition represents.

I’m delighted to have secured support from companies including Pirelli, GoodRidge, Scottoiler, Getac, GT Motorcycles and GoSIM.

Every contribution makes a genuine difference, whether through equipment, technical expertise, financial assistance or simply helping spread the word.

Discussions are continuing with other potential sponsors, and I hope to announce further developments over the coming months.

Preparing the Motorcycle and the Route

Behind the scenes, a considerable amount of work is taking place.

The route is being refined, fuel stops identified, overnight camping locations considered and the practical challenges of riding through northern Scandinavia carefully assessed.

The expedition will be completed solo, with wild camping forming a major part of the experience. This brings additional challenges, particularly when it comes to carrying equipment, managing fuel, maintaining communications and coping with unpredictable weather.

There is also the important matter of remembering those who served before us. Several military memorials and war cemeteries are included along the route, providing opportunities to stop, reflect and pay my respects.

The next few months will involve further equipment preparation, motorcycle checks and testing everything before departure.

Follow the Journey on Social Media

I’ve also been developing the expedition’s social media channels, where I’ll be sharing regular updates, videos, behind-the-scenes preparations and, eventually, daily reports from the road.

If you’d like to follow the journey, you can find The Long Road to Nordkapp on:

Facebook: #thelongroadtonordkapp

TikTok: @thelongroadtonordkapp

YouTube: #thelongroadtonordkapp

The TikTok video series is already underway, introducing the expedition, the motorcycle and the preparations ahead. As departure approaches, I’ll be sharing more about the equipment, route planning, challenges and people helping make this possible.

You don’t have to be a motorcyclist to follow along. Whether you’re interested in adventure, travel, veterans’ causes or simply seeing how an expedition like this comes together, everyone is welcome.

How You Can Help

Supporting the expedition doesn’t necessarily mean making a financial contribution. Following the social media channels, sharing posts, commenting on videos and telling others about the journey all help increase awareness.

The more people we reach, the greater the opportunity to highlight the work of Veterans in Action and the importance of supporting those who have served.

If you represent a business or organisation interested in supporting the expedition, I’d also welcome the opportunity to discuss how we might work together.

The Road Ahead

There is still plenty to do before June 2027, and I’m under no illusion about the challenges that lie ahead. Long days in the saddle, unpredictable weather, remote roads and the physical and mental demands of travelling alone will all be part of the experience.

But that is also part of the reason for undertaking this journey.

The Long Road to Nordkapp is about determination, resilience, remembrance and demonstrating that having a purpose can make a real difference.

To everyone who has supported the expedition so far, whether through sponsorship, encouragement or simply following the journey, thank you.

The road to Nordkapp has already begun. The motorcycle journey starts on 12 June 2027.
